Best of Luck for the Mannschaft

Almost two hours from now separates the German National Mannschaft from either proceeding to World Cup 2010 qualifiers for the 2nd round or go home empty. This game is a life or death deciding match against Ghana. Klose isn’t playing, so Cacau is replacing him, because of the red card he received against the Serbs. I pray for the Mannschaft and wish the best of luck and hope to hear the German National Anthem playing on July 11th, the Final for this world cup. To the Mannschaft, with love and best wishes of luck!!

All love for Nationalmannschaft

Since I was 6 or 8 years old, I’ve been in love with Germany’s national team. It’s enough for me that they destroyed the Maradona fever in World Cup 1990 Final against Argentina in the 85th minute. When I saw Maradona crying, I was dancing full of joy! That arrogant full-of-shit skilled player didn’t have what other legends had before him. Respect and admiration. Just another ghetto kid out of South America looking for fame and money. I’ve been a devote fan of German National Team since then. I’ve followed them through all the wins and losses. I’ve cried when we lost against Italy in the last couple of minutes in the semi-final of World Cup 2006 in Germany to theĀ  dirty Italians. But in return, they bombed Portugal for the Bronze title in the same cup. Of course, bombing Saudi Arabia in World Cup 2002 for 8-0 was the happiest moment in my life to put a lid to the Saudi idiocy.

Now, it’s 2010 in South Africa, not the most popular place on earth. First match for the mannschaft was against Australia and they bombed them with four goals, just like when Germany burned London to the grounds in World War II. We have lost against the awful Serbians, but hey they played better. Now, it’s time for Ghana. June 23rd will be the day to decide the future of our team to ascend to the qualifiers of this world cup. All the best to the Nationalmannschaft! I wished Klose would play, but because of the red card he’s out for this one. It’s all upon Lahm, Gomez, Cacau, Podolski, Schweinsteiger, Oezil and Khedira to take us to the finals!! On July 11th, we hope to hear the Geman national anthem playing! That will be the day!

Long Vacation

Since it’s summer time, I would like to refresh our memories with this great Jdorma TV series which has taken over our hearts in the summer of 1996. I had just arrived to the states, moved to Carbondale, IL. Resided in Ambassador Hall and they had satellite channels, including the International Channel, which dedicated its broadcasting to multi-international programs including Japanese dramas on Sunday nights. I caught half of this show and couldn’t forget it since then. Since I got back to Kuwait, I’ve been searching for this show till I found it torrent-ed at J-TV fansubs group. Kimura Takuya just kicked ass in that show, along a beautiful cast of Ryo, Takenuchi Utaka and more. The Opening is memorable to every Jdorama fan. Till now, there hasn’t been any romance show to match Long Vacation and its been 14 years since its broadcast, can you imagine? Much thanks goes for J-TV fansubs group for subbing this beautiful piece of visual art!

Pearl Lounge, KWI

I’ve visited this lounge on my outgoing trip to Austria in Kuwait International Airport and since I carry a business class ticket on Lufthansa, I was admitted to this lounge instead of Dasman Lounge due to designation of certain airlines to each lounge. Of course, the manually made boarding made a trouble for admission, so I cut the shit short and handed them my Priority Pass Card. First impressions? Well, Pearl Lounge is a lot smaller than Dasman Lounge due to space restraints. It can be accessed via a lift or stairs and its located on your left hand side right after the immigration counters. You’ll be greeted by two lovely ladies (yeah, that’s you, Fatima!) and on the left side, there are a couple of cubicles for checking your e-mail and etc. They have a big shelf of books and novels for sale, which is an extra. The amount of newspapers is limited, unlike Dasman Lounge. The couches are fabric, just like the ones you get in IKEA or any other western furniture outlet, unlike the leather couches in Dasman Lounge. They have a full service of even delivering your drinks and needs to your table. The number of seating for tables right by the food buffet is small and the size of the table is inadequate. Upon inspecting the food buffet, I became disinterested since it only had 3-4 main dishes and the rest was pastries and some low grade sandwiches, aside from some soup which I didn’t feel like eating at 11:45 PM. The buffet had a strange fried rice which was edible, average beef stew and some fish and vegetable dishes that I didn’t even bother to try. And they had this overcooked potato cuts which tasted stale and hard to eat. The sweets, fruit and salad bar was very limited to like 3-4 items per category. I’m comparing all of this against Dasman Lounge, which is totally the opposite.

After I took some stuff to my table, I’ve found out that this buffet belongs to the Crowne Plaza chain of restaurants. I started thinking like ”WTF?”. They had a menu on each table which contained items that could be prepared as per order. But then, I didn’t see anyone ordering nor being served, so I didn’t bother. The lounge is equipped with a designated children playroom which was good, and just like Dasman Lounge, only two TV monitors were available for all users of the lounge and only BBC World News was being aired. The good thing about this lounge is the service. I’ve seen an employee handing out a pillow and a blanket for a tired woman who needed some rest, which was nice and admirable. Also, the reception staff was very helpful in pointing me out on how to get my undelivered connecting pass for my trip and that was much appreciated! I would go for another visit to this lounge on the condition that I would see some improvement in the quality of the buffet items.
